A So-So Run With a Great Soundtrack from The B. Christopher Band

The Run -Four Miles

This morning was a running day. My last run was a 3.1 mile run on Sunday. Today I decided I would run a four mile course. I chose an out and back course that I call Creek Out and Back. I have been running over this course for many years I like it because it’s fairly flat and I get to run along the  Rancocas Creek for a short way. Only problem is that I only get to really see the create in the winter and early spring.

Anyway the run was not anything to write home about or blog about. I guess the two good aspects of the run were that my heart rate was under 138 bpm for the majority of the run and the four mile was faster than the third. Here are the nerdy  results.

The Nerdy Results

Total Miles:  4.16    Total Time.  43:31   Pace: 10:28

Mile Splits  1 10:21 2. 10:23 3. 10:39 4. 10:35 0.17 10:00

Avg HR 136 Max HR 164   Calories Burned: 528

The Soundtrack – Two Rivers Back – The B. Christopher Band

The soundtrack for the run was Two Rivers Back the  latest album from The B. Christopher Band. The album is currently # 16 on the Roots Music Reports Top 50 Blues Chart, up from #40!

Many times, when I am looking over the Roots Music Blues Chart for music to use as the soundtrack for my run, I look for artist who I have never heard. That was the case with The B. Christopher Band.

When I went to the band’s website I discovered, while I may have never heard composer B. Christopher I have heard his music. His music has
3,000 placements annually, on virtually every channel. So it would be hard for me not to have heard his music. Actually, Two Rivers Back comes from that television session work.

About Two Rivers Back

When I pick an album to listen to on my run. I first pick an album and then give the first track a quick listen. The first track on Two Rivers Back is an instrumental titled “Newbies Funk”. After listening to a few minutes of the song, the album went on my iPhone. After my run I applauded  my selection.

While I realized there were several instrumentals on the album, I didn’t realized that the exact number of instrumentals was six out of the thirteen tracks.

The remaining seven vocal tracks range from Delta Blues to Contemporary Blues. The band features Nathan East, Jerry Portnoy, Bruce Katz, Anton Fig, Shawn Pelton, Stu Hamm, Andy Snitzer, E.J “Moose” Boles, Eric Collier, Kent Smith, Eddie Testa and Michael Powers. And, of course,  B. Christopher who is the guitarist, songwriter and executive producer.

The bottom line is Two Rivers Back is a fine album that will be in my music rotation for a long while (I love instrumentals). It has everything I love great instrumentals, vocals and most importantly varied well-written songs. So Check it Out!!
