A Return to Running Music by Sean Chambers

The Run – 30 Minutes – 2.75 Miles So I stuck to plans for a run this yesterday afternoon and took off on a run at around 5:15. Which I guess is actually this evening. My plan was to run for at least 30 minutes. I chose a course that I usually run when I am returning to running. It’s about 2.5 miles plus and takes around 30 some minutes. Since it was my first run in over a month, I kept reminding myself as I was prepping for the run to take it easy! Anyway whether it’s old age or I just have learned over the years how to run slower, I was able to maintain a nice easy pace throughout the run. Here are the mile splits: mile 1. 11:01, mile 2 11:17 the last .75 mile 11:19.I’ll take the last .75 mile being only 18 seconds per mile slower than the first mile any day. The bottom line is that it was a successful start for a return to running. And so far my foot feels fine. The only thing that hurts tonight is my left shoulder, but that is from this morning’s tabata workout. I hate push-ups. A Slightly Different Morning Workout…..

….With Some Great Music from Terra Guitarra and Joseph L. Young The Morning Workout So every non-Target working I try to do a workout that includes a tuning in warm up (Long Ek Ong Kar) followed by a 7:30 minute Kundalini and regular exercise set that includes Lower spine flex twists side bends shoulder shrugs head rolls alternating knee to chest alternating leg raises double leg lifts with a 5 lb exercise ball arm lifts – on back legs at 90 to floor and extend up arms with the 5 lb ball (lifting head also) bicycle pick me up (butt raises) expand and contract legs with legs on 45 degree angle Each exercise is done to a recitation of the Mool Mantra (about 25 seconds) That is followed by 7 minutes of light weights – a series of exercise with 2 – 15 lb weights, 2 5 lb weights and a 20 lb Kettle bell. The last 6 minute exercise set uses a resistance band, followed by a slightly aerobic set using a boxing type band and then another x-type resistance ban. The set ends with a 15 minute meditation. Total time is 40 or so minutes.So I typically have been starting my Fitbit tracker at the start of the routine and turn it off at the end. I end up with about 12 minutes of productive exercise and the rest well like resting (i.e the warm-up and the meditation. This morning I started my routine with some rhythmic movement…

Something New for My Morning Yoga with Music by Deuter

Deuter’s Immortelle Provides the Soundtrack for this Morning’s Yoga This morning I decided to change-up my morning yoga routine. Typically, my routine starts with whatever yoga series that I am doing, followed by a 10 to 15 minute meditation. Many times during my meditation, I slowly move my body in slow figure eights. The movements seem to relax various sides of my body and improve the meditation. So last night I did a search on Google for movement during meditation and found several articles on movement meditation. At Tran4mind.com I read the following about movement meditation… What is movement meditation? Simply, it is any type of meditation in which we are moving. “Movement meditation” (or “moving meditation”) includes a wide range of techniques. Any movement can be performed as a meditation, if we apply mindfulness and a slow pace. Read More So this morning I started my morning yoga with 10 minutes of movement meditation. Deuter’s latest release Immortelle has been the soundtrack for my morning yoga several times over the last week or so. This morning I used the album again and it worked beautifully. I spent the initial ten minutes with slow body movement, including moving my arms and body in figures 8s. This new wrinkle may well be add to my morning yoga ritual on non-work days. Thoughts About Mindfulness and Mystical Morning..

Lead to New Directions for My Blogs and a Mystical Morning Commute! The other morning while meditating my mind turned toward my blog and I thought of my blog in relationship to my body mind and spirit. Much of what I try to do during the day is directed at one of those three aspects of life. Whether it’s trying to enrich and keep my mind sharp by reading, exercising and eating right to help my body and meditating and listening to New Age music to lift my spirit, the actions I take revolve around these aspects of life. Anyway what I am going to try for a while is to keep this blog oriented toward the rejuvenation, and revitalization of my mind, body and spirit, As part of this shift, the music discussions on this site will be mostly about New Age music and maybe some jazz. But knowing that my musical explorations of other genres including Americana, blues and progressive rock won’t stop, I will be discussing those explorations at FreeWheelin’ Music Safari! Now with the above thoughts swirling around in my head I visited some new sites like MindBodyGreen and BodyMindSpirit Guide both of which I believe I will be visiting more often in the future. Spiritual Haven – Relaxing ethnic instruments and rhythms blended with modern sounds This morning I was looking for music to serve as the soundtrack for my morning yoga routine. (routine 3 from Richard Hittleman) I made a stop at the Zone Music Reporter‘s Top 100 Radio Airplay Chart The album that caught my eye was the number 31 album Spiritual Haven by Russell Suereth. It sounded like an album that would make a good soundtrack for my yoga set, so I gave it a quick listen,I liked what I heard, but for some reason I didn’t use it, I come back and listen to it later in the morning though, and I think that I will be in my music rotation for a while. Deuter’s Reiki Hands of Love – soundtrack for my morning yoga… This morning I decided to go to Zone Music Reporter to find some music to listen to while I was doing my morning yoga routine.The first album that caught my attention was Reiki Hands of Love from Deuter. New Age – Healing Music from Michael Brant DeMaria – The Maiden of Stonehenge!

So the other day I was browsing through the Zone Music Reporter’s New Age Top 100 Radio Air Play chart and I spotted down at #87 an interesting looking album titled The Maiden of Stonehenge by Michael Brant DeMaria. Not knowing anything more about the album, than that it had both an interesting title and a cool cover (there I go again dating myself). I downloaded it on to the iPhone and gave it a listen. As soon as I heard the flute on the first track “Lost Village” I knew that I was going to like the album and I was very, very correct!! So then I started to research the album and Michael Brant DeMaria and what did I find. Another one of those people who REALLY have it all together!! (Unlike me who has little pieces scattered all over the place!)
