Let’s Catch Up……..
Ok so here we go again, you don’t know it but I have made several attempts to get back to writing this blog. All of them are still in the draft stages!
A myriad of reasons have colluded to keep me from posting. First, I’ve had an eye problem that has resulted in visits to several doctors. A visit to an ophthalmologist which led to a visit to a retina specialist. From there I went back to a cardiologist, as well as, my family doctor for various tests. None of the testing has revealed a cause for the problem. I do know now though that my heart is good with no blockages anywhere. The next step is a visit to a neuro-ophthalmologist.
The second impact on my blogging is more pleasant, however, it’s been more life changing. In February my daughter had a baby girl. Subsequently my wife, who was ready for retirement, took the plunge and did it. The result is that we are now babysitting four to five days a week from 7:00 am to 4:45. And even though there are two of us, it’s still tiring! With that said, we wouldn’t change it for the world! Emma is just a marvelous baby!
After three months, I am just getting settled into a schedule so i can re-start full workouts and running. Additionally,I am starting to read more! After reading only 3 books in September and 2 in October, I have read four books in November Whoo-hoo! After finishing Girl Gone Missing yesterday I have read 41 books in 2023. However, that leaves me 9 books behind the pace I need to be at to reach my goal of 55 for the year. Hopefully, I can read four or five books before the end of the year.
And Move Forward,,,,,
My Last Read – Girl Gone Missing (Cash Blackbear #2) – Marcie Rendon
Girl Gone Missing: (Cash Blackbear #2) – I only discovered this series back in September, when the third book in the series Sinister Graves caught my eye in the library. And I’m glad it did! They’re both good reads and the stories are fairly quick moving. But the lead character Cash Blackbear makes everything else secondary, A 19 year old Chippewa woman how has lead a rough life. She lost her mother in an auto crash when she was three and lived her early years moving several foster homes. By 13 she was one her own working on farms in the Red River Valley around Ada and Moorhead Minnesota and Fargo North Dakota
Now at 19 with the help from her friend the local police sheriff Wheaton she is attending college. Cash still works though hauling produce from farms in this book it’s sugar beets. She also drinks lots of beer, smokes like a chimney and hustles pool! She also helps out Wheaton on some of his cases. In Girl Gone Missing it’s a young white woman. A class valedictorian and basically a young woman who wouldn’t just run away! Cash is driven to find her!
All in all it was a terrific read I gave it 4 stars on Goodreads. The average rating on Goodreads was 4.01. I would rank the various aspects of the book as follows: Characters A++ Overall Setting and Sense of Place A+ Plot A. Well done Marcie Rendon !
Oh by the way I forgot to mention Girl Gone Missing was nominated for the Sue Grafton Memorial Award! So check it Out! As for me I just added Murder on the Red River Book One of the series to my ebook library!
