So yesterday, we were away most of the day, moving my daughter Elizabeth into her new apartment. She will be in graduate school this year at the University of Delaware. She will be sharing an apartment with another grad student in her program. Their apartment is located about ten minutes from campus and the good thing for me, only 70 miles from our home. A nice relief from the 320 mile trek to William and Mary! While I don’t miss the travel to W&M especially the traffic from Washington to Fredericksburg, I do miss seeing the campus!
Anyway, the moving day came after a couple of trips to IKEA for furniture and odds and ends and a few trips to Target, where my team member discount and Red Card came in handy. The trips to IKEA meant the there were several pieces of furniture to assemble including: a four drawer chest, desk, and a three shelf Target bookcase. Our caravan left around 9:30 yesterday, Elizabeth in our old car, her new car, her boyfriend Jimmy in his family’s van and us in our new car. Low and behold, we pulled into her apartment complex a little over an hour later! (Only time for one album and it was Babel from Mumford and Sons at that). Both families arrived at around the same time and the unpacking and assembling began – Lizzie roommate Jess had also visited IKEA and her bedroom furniture also required assembly, working together Jim and I soon had the chest of drawers together. While I was assembling the desk, Jim was putting the shelf unit together and by late afternoon the room was in pretty good shape!
As for me, well, I had worked all day Friday from 8:30 am to 11:15 when Target closed and by late afternoon my butt was dragging. Since there were only a few chairs in the living room of the apartment, I laid down on the floor for a power nap…. that’s when the crazy lady with the camera came
in and snapped this picture:
Not only did she post it to her Facebook wall, but she posted it to a photography group with about 8,000 members around the world!! Daily the group takes a picture related to a word – yesterday’s word was exercise and her caption was:
FMS Photo A Day 17. Exercise…too much exercise for my poor husband-he worked two jobs yesterday and spent today helping our daughter move into her first apartment. He also put together 3 pieces of furniture-stick a fork in him-he’s done!
Which I was a nice way to spin it!! And hey it got a lot of likes!! After the nap, I hung a mirror and some pictures in Lizzie’s room, went to Chipotle for dinner and we were back home around 9:30! No motel room required!!
