Something New an HIIT Bike Workout

Like my Weslo Stationary Bike

Ok so yesterday in the morning it was raining again, so I didn’t go for a walk. But I also didn’t do a hard workout. By the afternoon I had very few steps, so I knew I had to do some kind of indoor workout. I stared at the stationary bike and thought should I?  One of the reasons that I don’t really workout on the bike is that I have never really done an organized workout. I would get on the bike and pedal for 20 to 30 minutes maybe changing the tension every now and then. Overall, I used to think it was too easy!   The Bike Workout You noticed I said used to think it was too easy? See yesterday I found a 20 minute Bike  HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) video on YouTube. Oh, there’s another reason I haven’t worked out on the bike a lot. I used to need to move my laptop around so I watch any YouTube videos to workout with. But now YouTube is on  Xfinity so I can watch it on the TV. But back to the workout. The workout started out easy 6 – 15 second hard burst followed by 15 seconds of easy riding.  However,  when the burst of hard pedaling went up to 30 seconds and then 45 seconds, my heart rate started to climb and the sweat started to pour from my pores. The Results By the end of the workout I had burnt 225 calories, and had…

A Hand-Me Up Fitbit Blaze Reignites My Workouts!

Exercise Equipment used in my workouts

Ok  so I have said before that a Fitbit in and of itself will not make you fit. However, it does show you the fruits of your exercising and helps to motivate you. EKK starts the Year Sans Fitbit… This year, I didn’t have a Fitbit at the beginning of the year. I had two Charge Hrs, however, both had fallen apart to the point that they couldn’t be recharged. And one had frozen during a firmware update. For a while I was able to charge and use the unfrozen one. But then it also froze during a firmware update also.  The end result was, I found it hard to get motivated to do some of my more energetic workouts. So I was exercising, but not very hard. ….Then Gets a Fitbit Blaze! Well, two weeks ago my daughter went to a convention for school psychologists in Chicago and on the morning she was leaving she passed up her Fitbit Blaze to me! Of course this was several days after I had purchased a cheap Letscom exercise tracker, which by the way wasn’t working badly at all, but is nowhere near the Blaze. …. Which Recharges My Workouts Anyway, this past week was a very good workout week, as I try to get back in shape. I exercised fairly vigorously on three days. On two days, I exercised for close to 50 minutes and burned more than 400 calories. While this mornings workout lasted 36 minutes burning 329 calories. …. Hopefully Positive…

A Weekend of Strong Workouts With a Charged Fitbit!

Bent Frets - Mick Clarke soundtrack for one of my workouts

A Recharged Fitbit Recharges My Workouts and Me! The other day I wrote that it’s not as much fun to exercise without a Fitbit. It’s more fun when you are exercising to see how many calories you’ve burned. After that post, I pulled out my daughter’s old Fitbit sans the part that holds the recharge chord onto the Fitbit. To charge the Fitbit, I held the Fitbit and the cord together. And after a few minutes the Fitbit was charged to about 25%. I thought, well,  if I can’t get it past the quarter fill mark I can at least use it while I’m exercising in the morning. I did just that yesterday morning! First A Little Extra on Saturday As a result I pushed myself a little further than I planned to during that workout so I could get to 200 calories burned. Later that night, I kept holding the chord and Fitbit together and it charged to more than 50%. But I really didn’t want to sit there all night holding the two components together. I looked for ways to keep the two together. Finally I took a clip and put the cord between its clips and balanced the Fitbit on top. I let it sit there for a while a viola! It charged to 100%.. Then a Full Throttle Sunday  Using the Fitbit this morning, I again extended my cardio workout by several minutes. This time I extended it to reach 280 calories burned! Then because: the rain…
