2013 Music – New Blues from Jason Elmore and Hoodoo Witch – Tell You What

Tell You WhySo yesterday I was checking out this weeks Roots Music Report’s Blues Chart and I saw an album debuting at Number 8 that looked interesting, Tell You What from Jason Elmore and Hoodoo Witch. I went to MOG gave it the 30 second test and quickly put it on the iPhone and have been enjoying it since. Jason is a fine vocalist and a terrific guitarist and the band has put together a really fine album. The albums mixes ballads and rockin’ tunes to constantly keep the album interesting!

The album, is a follows his début album Upside Your Head ,which garnered a lot a critical press! On this album,  eight of  the tracks area self-penned, and four others are covers: Rory Gallagher’s “Country Mile,” Sean Costello’s “Don’t Pass Me By,” Buck Owens’ “Buckaroo,” and Willie Bell’s “You Don’t Miss Your Water.”  The band does a nice job on all the covers! Here’s what it says at his website about his music:

Voted ‘Best Blues’ 2012 by the prestigious Dallas Observer Music Awards, Jason Elmore is a Dallas, TX-based guitarist/singer/songwriter that is turning heads in the blues/rock guitar world with his devastating guitar chops and vocals. Whether fronting his high-energy trio ‘Hoodoo Witch’ or performing as a solo acoustic act, Elmore is able to bring together elements of American music in his performances that seem to bridge the gap between blues, rock, soul, country, and jazz. He is remarkable in his ability to appeal to fans of all genres of music with his incendiary guitar licks, soulful and powerful old-school vocals, keen sense of humor and imagainative-yet-familiar songwriting. All one needs to do is watch him play live one time in order to have a good understanding of how all these different genres of music have a common thread when it comes to eliciting an emotional response from the listener and taking them to that special place where only the music exists.
