Harlan Coben – From Myron Bolitar to ….Win

Harlan Coben

The first Harlan Coben novel I read was One Flase Move, book #5 in his series featuring Myron Bolitar. Myron is a 31-year-old formerly renowned basketball player and is the owner of MB SportsReps (or simply MB Reps in later books), an agency representing sports stars and celebrities.

Like many of the mystery series I read the supporting cast often add a lot to the series and that is certainly true in the Myron Bolitar series. Two of the main supporting characters are Myron’s his best friend, Windsor Horne Lockwood III (better known as Win)an eccentric, philandering billionaire and his assistant at MB SportReps, Esperanza Diaz. Esperanza formerly a professional wrestler, known as Little Pocahantas, started as an assistant and later becomes Myron’s business partner.

While the Myron Bolitar series may have won Harlan a variety of awards,

Coben won the 1996 Anthony Award in the category “Best Paperback Original”, for Deal Breaker, the first volume of the Myron Bolitar series; it was also nominated for an Edgar Award in the same category.[4][5] Fade Away won the 1997 Shamus Award and the Edgar Award for “Best Paperback Original”,[5][6] was nominated for the Anthony Award and the Barry Award in the same category,[4][7] and was nominated for a Dilys Award.[8] The following Myron Bolitar novel, Back Spin, won the 1998 Barry Award and was nominated for the Dilys Award and the Shamus Award…..In 2010, Live Wire won the crime fiction award, the RBA Prize for Crime Writing, worth €125,000.

His standalone novels have made his career. His first  standalone Tell No One released in 2002 was nominated for the Anthony Award, the Macavity Award, the Edgar Award and the Barry Award. Since then Coban has written predominantly written stadalone novels with an occasional Myron Bolitar book.

His most recent release is titled Win and features Windsor Horne Lockwood III aka Win. It as a great read, fantastyic storyline and even better as getting to know more about Win and his family!

I an really looking forward to Coban’s next book The Match to be released on March 3, 2022. If my math is right that’s 20 years after Dr. David Beck was told to Tell No One.
