Thoughts About My Music Listening
Ok so this morning as I was writing my morning post I listened to Ann Sweeten’s 2016 release Where Butterflies Dance. It is a beautiful piano based album. I guess that album finished before I was done writing because when I went back to Spotify after finishing writing my post a different piano artist’s music was playing!
I worked around my room I continued to listen to piano music and listened to Peter Kater’s latest release Dancing on Water.Through the years I have enjoyed Peter’s music. Particularly his collaborative efforts with R Carlos Nakai.
Then this afternoon on my was to my son Andrew’s house to celebrate my birthday, which was today (October 1st) and my son Nicholas’ which was last week I put on Up All Night the new blues album from blues artist Albert Castiglia. As I listened to the third track of the album Three Legged Dog, I wondered how can a person who liked the beautiful pianos of Ann Sweeten and Peter Kater, like Albert Castiglia? Or maybe is it typical for someone’s musical taste to span genres so diverse?
How Diverse is Your Music Listening?
So the question of the night is – Is your music listening diverse or Is it limited to one genre? As I write this I thought about Ray Wylie Hubbard and his song “When She Sang Amazing Grace”. Ray says he thought he was going to make millions with that song because it merged Gospel Music and Honky-Tonk music! A great idea right???? Or is it??? How wide is your music listing?
