A Good Workout, a Good Run with Great Blues from Laurie Morvan.

Okay so I will find out today if I over did it yesterday How you ask? Well maybe you didn’t ask or even want to know how. But I am going to tell you anyway!

The Morning Workout

It all started with my morning workout. It was intended to be a 46 minute workout using just about every piece of workout equipment I own. At the start of the workout I was feeling pretty good so I was moving a little quicker than normal and that continued throughout the workout.

When I got to the 46 min mark I was close to 450 calories burned, so I decided to go for a few more minutes to get to 450 calories. The final time for the workout ended up being 50 minutes. The final number of calories ended up at 481 calories.

The Run -2.7 Mile Loop

Later in the day I remembered that I had said I wanted to run/jog on Tuesday and Thursday this week so when 4:30 came around I decided to do just that!

My plan was to go for a slow two-mile run, and possibly, if I needed to, I would walk. However, when I started I was running along at an easy 11:08 minute per mile pace. I completed the first mile at a pace of 11:14. I felt good and my heart rate had actually gone down since the start of the run. The second mile was completed in 10:58 thanks to a couple of slight downgrades.

As I approached home and the end of the two miles I decided to stretch the run a little and go for 2.25 miles. So I adjusted my course a little and traveled on still at around an 11:06 pace. As I entered the home stretch I was beyond the 2.25 miles and getting close to 2.5 miles which now became my new goal. Then as I approached the 2.5 miles goal, I saw that I was also approaching that magical exercise time of 30 minutes!! So guess what that became my new and final Gravitygoal!

I completed the run in 30;03. The final distance was 2.7 miles at a pace of 11:06. The most important thing though was that I felt good!! Here are some final Stats

The total number of calories I burned from exercising for the day between the two Workouts was 900 calories.

The Soundtrack – Gravity – Laurie Morvan Band

The soundtrack for my run was the new release from blues artist Laurie Morvan. I first heard Laurie Morvan back in either 2010 or 2012. Anyway, back then I loved her music and have patiently waited for another release. I wait no more. On February  her new album Gravity was released. it’s a terrific one!

Everything works for me on this album. I love Laurie’s vocals and her driving guitar playing! Couple that with her great songwriting and she’s hit my trifecta!

However it doesn’t stop there Laurie has surrounded herself with some great band mates on Gravity. I particularly like the Hammond B3 organ of Mike Finnigin and Jim Pugh. Also the keyboard work of Barry Goldberg. Rounding out the band is the rhythm section of Bob Glaub on bass and Tom Braunagel on percussion

The good news though is that as of this post I am feeling pretty good. I did however backed off my morning workout. I figured I needed a little rest. So I did  two short workouts from YouTube videos. The exercises in both targeted the core.
