New Age: “Into the Night” with the nouveau-flamenco sounds of Luna Blanca

El DoradoSo a while back, when I was listening to Jesse Cook, The Blue Sessions album, the album finished and MOG radio came on with artists similar to Jesse Cook. One of the groups that caught my ear was Luna Blanca. I listened to their 2007 release, Magic and really enjoyed it. Since then I have listened to their 2012 release El Dorado and the album Live and enjoyed both of them as well! I have since discovered that the group is from Germany and is one of the most popular  nouveau-flamenco groups in the world. Currently, another 2012 release Obsession is at 2 on the Music Zone Reporters’ Top 100 Radio Airplay Chart for February 2013.Luna BlancaLuna Blanca features Richard Hecks (guitar) and Helmut Graebe (piano). On the last three albums, Hecks and Graebe have been joined by rhythm guitarist Bino Dola (flamenco guitar) and Clemens Paskert (bass, percussion and keyboards). Read More

Knowing that I will forget all about listening tomorrow night, I thought I better go listen to the album this afternoon. So I went over to MOG and put it on. Now for those of you who are not familiar with Jesse Cook, Here’s some information from Wikipedia: Read More

So I went to Spotify where I discovered that Armik has released a new album titled Romantic Spanish Guitar Vol. 2. Sound s good to me!  I first discovered the music of Armik back in 2010 and since then I occasionally listen to his awesome work! The following is a post I wrote back in 2012 when he released the album Reflections. The new album is playing as I write this and it, like its predecessors is really good. I’ll write more about it soon!! But for now let’s go “into the afternoon” with the guitar of Armik Read More

Into the Night with Gary Stroutsos and his Native American flute!

So this morning I needed to do some writing at work so out came some Native American flute music. It came from an artist that I have never heard before Gary Stroutsos and his 2011 release Inside Tutka Bay and I am a fan! Additionally I have a lot of catching up to do because his career started with Native American music in 1994 when he moved from Washington to North Dakota and includes a gazillion albums! Read More
