2020 Psychedelic Rock Powers a Good Run!

Today was my second run this week. The first was on Tuesday, and it was my first in 11 days. It wasn’t a pleasant run. I struggled most of the way through it, but still I made it. Did I ever say I hate running in the summer? Well, I do.

When I checked the Weather Channel app on Wednesday, i saw running conditions were going to be tough on Thursday morning. However, conditions were to be really good on Saturday morning. So it was a no-brainer that Saturday would be my next run. What’s a couple of more days off!

Anyway, the forecast was right and conditions were really good this morning. The temperature was fairly low. Humidity was ok, and while the sun was shining, there was an ever so slight breeze blowing in my face, during certain parts of the run.

Throughout the run I was able to maintain a nice comfortable albeit somewhat slow pace. The result was that I felt pretty good at the end of the rum. Here are the Nerdy Details!

The Dream Syndicate is an American alternative rock band from Los Angeles, California, originally active from 1981 to 1989, and reunited since 2012. The band is associated with neo-psychedelia and the Paisley Underground music movement of the bands in that movement, according to the Los Angeles Times,  the Dream Syndicate “rocked with the highest degree of unbridled passion and conviction.”

The Universe Inside is the band’s fourth release since 2012. The band is composed of: singer/guitarist Wynn, drummer Dennis Duck, bassist Mark Walton, keyboardist Chris Cacavas and lead guitarist Jason Victor.

About The Universe Inside

The Universe Inside is a departure from what people have come to expect from The Dream Syndicate. And the length of the tracks: 20:27, 7:36, 8:56, 9:55 and 10:53 is proof of the album’s difference!

At Anti.com I read  that It seems that on this album

…., every song is a group songwriting effort. What seeps in are Dennis Duck’s knowledge of European Avantgarde music (let’s not forget, Duck named the band The Dream Syndicate in tribute to an obscure 1973 Krautrock album), Jason Victor’s passion for 70s prog, Mark Walton’s experience in Southern-fried music collectives, Chris Cacavas’ penchant for sound manipulation and Wynn’s love of vintage electric jazz.

The dazzling display of album cover artwork alone should clue you in to the changes. But don’t take our word for it. Dive in  Read More
