Ok so how many books is it Ok to read at one time? Right now, I’m reading five! Is that too many? On the fiction side, I’m reading the latest from novel from one of my all time favorite authors James Lee Burke,Creole Belle. He is such a great writer! It takes about two to three pages for me to get sucked back into the world of Dave Robicheaux and Clete Purcell and New Iberia, Louisiana!
On the non-fiction side, I am currently reading The President and the Assassin by Scott Miller. It’s about the assassination of William McKinley and it examines the events surrounding the assassination and looks at the life of the assassin Leon Czolgosz. I just was reading about the sinking of the Maine!
The other night I went to the library to pick up a book that my wife has been waiting to become avaliable for a long time! While I was there I picked up Blood Gospel by James Rollins and Rebecca Canttrell and can’t wait to start that one. I also picked up Treacherous Beauty: Peggy Shippen, the woman behind Benedict Arnold’s Plot to Betray America. Now this one I started to read and it’s really interesting so far! Ok so that’s three!
The other two are ebooks on the iPhone. I’m over 60% through Neil Young’s autobiography Waging Heavy Peace. I just left Neil with his leg bleeding profusely after stitches didn’t hold in his leg after brain surgery! The other is Empire of the Summer Moon by S.C. Gwynne. The book is about the last of the Indian Wars against the Comanches. I must say that the Comanches were a brutal group that were feared by all and rightfully so, it’s a fascinating book!
Ok so there’s the five right now – is that too many? How many books does anyone read at one time, well not at the same time! But in the same time period – you know what I mean!
