The First Run of 2019 – Music by Dragonforce

The First Run of 2019 Fastest in a Long Time!!

Yes I know I should do a 2018 recap post before starting on new 2019 posts. However, I want to get back to posting more often so I will write about yesterday rather than last year!

My first thought about yesterday ‘s morning run was that I would run a four mile course. But the more I thought about t,  the more I felt that I would rather stay with the 5K course that I’ve been running. Maybe though, I would try to make it a more of a tempo run.

In order to try to keep my tempo up  I decided to make an album from the power metal group Dragonforce the soundtrack for the run. The album I chose was Inhuman Rampage.

It was a great choice and an even better run. I crossed the first mile marker running at a 9:55 minute/ mile pace. I checked my pulse it was a little high, so I slowed up a little for about a quarter of a mile. After that I was going slightly down hill, so I just ran comfortably. My second mile pace ended up a second faster than the first!  Throughout the third mile, I tried to slow down, in order  to lower my heart rate. Figuring then, I would have a little left for a sprint at the end of the run! I was right. I actually finished with final sprint pace of 8:33 min/mile (over the last 0.12 miles lol). Here are the results;

The Results

3.12 miles       30:52 minutes        Pace: 9.53 min/mile

Mile 1 9:55  Mile 9:54   Mile 3 – 10:02  Mile 0.12  8:33

The Soundtrack

As I previously stated, the soundtrack of the run was Inhuman Rampage from Dragonforce and a it was a good one! It is an unbelievably hard  fast guitar-laden album and the driving beat keep my feet a movin’. Here’s a little about the album from Wikipedia:

Inhuman Rampage is the third studio album by English power metal band DragonForce, released on 6 January 2006 and 20 June 2006 in North America. In the United States, the album reached number 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart; it also reached No. 103 on the Billboard 200 chart, and its first single “Through the Fire and Flames” has received rock radio and Fuse TV airplay, and has appeared as a playable track on the video games Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock and Rocksmith 2014 Edition – Remastered.
