Handyman Day!

So as I was deciding on what to do and how to repair the faucet on my kitchen sink and the shower divertor this morning, this David Wilcox song was spinning on the cd player in my brain!

So the first thing I did was take the faucet apart and found the pieces that were giving me a problem and headed to my local “East Nashville Hardware” – Schwerings Hardware in Palmyra.

Now for years we had one right here in Riverside Foster’s Hardware, but when Lowes and The Home Depot arrived Foster’s departed. Somehow Schwerings has been able to survive. Anyway, last week I took the shower divertor down there fully expecting to buy a new divertor, but the salesman gave me the pieces needed to retrofit the divertor and the cost was a whole $5.82! So it was a no brainer to return today, but alas they did not have the part I needed because it was actually a part of the faucet assembly and not the stem. So unfortunately, I was going to have to go to The Home Depot and buy the full faucet assembly. While I was at Schwerings, I asked about the divertor because I still had more water coming out of the spigot then should be coming out. The salesman told me to check the seat for pitting and then if there was get a new one. So after buying and installing the kitchen faucets, I headed back to Schwerings only this time “East Nashville Hardware” was playing on the iPod as I rolled down the road. In addition to the divertor seat, which I found,  I was going to pick up a new divertor handle. Unfortunateely, they did not have the divertor handle I needed so it was back to The Home Depot. While I was there I decided to pick up a new bathroom faucet set. (once in handyman mode you better get as much done as you can!)

So the final result the kitchen faucet assembly has been replaced. The bathroom shower divertor seat and handle have been replaced and now when diverted all of the water comes out of the showerhead! And the crusty old bathroom faucet has been replaced and the new one looks really nice! And the bottom line is if you live in the area go to our “East Nashville Hardware” Schwerings!  Good stuff, good people!!

Now out of handyman mode and back to normal! During all the driving around today in addition to David Wilcox, I listened  to the new album by The Damn Quails Down the Hatch. Here’s The band performing “Through the Fire” from the album. This is only my second this to the ablum, but I.m sure you’ll hear more about ut next week after I listen to it a few more times!
