Legend 1So this afternoon I was looking for a new release title Spirit from the Prog Rock band Legend. i went to MOG and found the band and a 2013 release the only thing was I hit download before I went back and checked the title. The title of the album I downloaded was The Dark Place.not Spirit. Here is the website of the Jersey Band Legend. Here is the website of the Prog Rock band Legend
Anyway I listened to the album and liked it and while the band appears to be labeled as metal rather than Prog I do think there are prog influences throughout the album. The band Legend that I listened to were or was??

Legend were a heavy metal band, formed 1980 in Jersey. The band did not enjoy the success of other New Wave of British Heavy Metal bands such as Iron Maiden or Def Leppard, and their first recordings are produced in a local Jersey studio. Legend were known for its sharp and sometimes political lyrics, with song titles such as “Hiroshima” and “Sabra & Chatila”. Musically they blended traditional heavy metal with touches of jazz, and with Black Sabbath-influenced riffs in the first album. Reforming in 2003 for a new album ‘Still Screaming’ the band still continue to have a serious ‘cult’ following and are playing a 30th Anniversary concert in February 2012 at The Royal Yacht Hotel in Jersey, Channel Islands. Album ‘The Dark Place’ released April 15th 2013,

Legend currently features Mike Lezala on Vocals, Pete Haworth on Guitar, Neil Haworth on Guitar, Eggy Aubert on Bass and Jack Pallot on drums. 30 years on and Legend are still recognised as one of the most unique and underestimated bands of the NWOBHM movement. When I first read this I thought to myself What the hell is NWOHM??? To find out I went to Wikipeadia and found that…

The New Wave of British Heavy Metal, or NWOBHM /nˈwɒbm/, was a heavy metal movement that started in the late 1970s, in Britain, and achieved international attention by the early 1980s. After Sounds editor Alan Lewis coined the term, journalist Geoff Barton first used it in the May 1979 issue of Sounds magazine as a way of describing a second wave of heavy metal bands that emerged in the late 1970s during the period of punk rock’s decline and the dominance ofNew Wave music.[1] The movement developed as a reaction in part to the decline of early heavy metal bands such as Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Black Sabbath.[2] NWOBHM bands toned down the blues influences of earlier acts, incorporated elements of punk, increased the tempo, and adopted a “tougher” sound, taking a harder approach to its music.[2] It was an era directed almost exclusively at heavy metal fans [2] and is considered to be a major foundation stone for the extreme metal genres; acts such as the American metal band Metallica cite NWOBHM bands like Iron Maiden, Saxon, Motörhead and Diamond Head as a major influence on their musical style

toned down blues influences! Hum, is that why I drifted away from rock music??? Nay, it was the kids!! Anyway I enjoyed the album but I still have to find and listen to the other Legend and their album Spirit…. but I think I’ll do that in the morning, oh wait it is the morning!!! Uh, in the morning after some sleep, because right now I am tired!! The Dark PlaceSo I’ll go off to bed and you all can go into the morning or what ever part of the day your going into depending on where you are…… with Legend from The Dark Place
