So this afternoon I was looking for a new release title Spirit from the Prog Rock band Legend. i went to MOG and found the band and a 2013 release the only thing was I hit download before I went back and checked the title. Anyway I listened to the album and liked it and while the band appears to be labeled as metal rather than Prog I do think there are prog influences throughout the album. The band Legend that I listened to were or was??
Legend were a heavy metal band, formed 1980 in Jersey. The band did not enjoy the success of other New Wave of British Heavy Metal bands such as Iron Maiden or Def Leppard, and their first recordings are produced in a local Jersey studio. Legend were known for its sharp and sometimes political lyrics, with song titles such as “Hiroshima” and “Sabra & Chatila”. Musically they blended traditional heavy metal with touches of jazz, and with Black Sabbath-influenced riffs in the first album. Reforming in 2003 for a new album ‘Still Screaming’ the band still continue to have a serious ‘cult’ following and are playing a 30th Anniversary concert in February 2012 at The Royal Yacht Hotel in Jersey, Channel Islands. Legend currently features Mike Lezala on Vocals, Pete Haworth on Guitar, Neil Haworth on Guitar, Eggy Aubert on Bass and Jack Pallot on drums. 30 years on and Legend are still recognised as one of the most unique and underestimated bands of the NWOBHM movement. The New Wave of British Heavy Metal, or NWOBHM /nˈwɒbm/, was a heavy metal movement that started in the late 1970s, in Britain, and achieved international attention by the early 1980s. toned down blues influences! Hum, is that why I drifted away from rock music??? Nay, it was the kids!! Anyway I enjoyed the album but I still have to find and listen to the other Legend and their album Spirit…. but I think I’ll do that in the morning, oh wait it is the morning!!! Uh, in the morning after some sleep, because right now I am tired!!
