Badlands - Johnny OskamJohnny Oskam – In My Shadow

From Johnny’s website….

Drawing his influence from the likes of blues greats such as Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughan, as well as rock acts from Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin to Soundgarden and Rival Sons and everything in between, Johnny Oskam fuses together elements of rock and blues from all over the spectrum to form an altogether original sound.

Yes and it’s a very good sound, put to great use on In My Shadow.

Included on the playlist.: “Badlands” and “Devil’s Comin'”

Witchy Feelin'- Savoy BrownSavoy BrownWitchy Feelin’

Unlike the new and hopefully upcoming Johnny Oskam, Savoy Brown has been around since the 1960s. I was never a big fan of Savoy Brown, but maybe the reason for that is I never really heard their music that much.

Savoy Brown as had many line-up changes through the years. In fact in 1971 nearly everyone left the band. Lead singer Chris Youlden left the band for a solo career. While band members Dave Perverent, Roger Earle and Tony Stevens left to form their own group Foghat. The mass exodus left quitarist and founder Kim Simmonds as the lone member of the band. Simmonds rebuilt the band with former members of the blues band Chicken Shack and vocalist Dave Walker. The result was that the band had its best chart success.

Throughout the years the band has seen numerous line-up changes, both number of band members and personnel. The band signed with Ruf Records in 2011. Since then they have released four albums, all with a three member band. The current line-up includes founding member Kim Simmonds on guitar and vocals, Pat DeSalvo on bass and Garnet Grimm on drums.

I think that Witchy Feelin’ is my favorite of their Ruf Records releases

Tracks included on the Playlist: “Why Do You Hoodoo Me”, “Witchy Feelin'”, and “Memphis Blues”

Were all in this together - Walter TroutWalter Trout –We’re All in this Together

We’re All in This Together is Walter Trout’s first studio since 2013 when he was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver. He received that diagnosis while he was on tour in Germany. He continued to tour until he was told he needed a liver transplant within 90 days! His wife  raised the money needed for the operation musch if not all of the money came from donations from fans. Trout received the transplant and by 2015 he had recovered and was able to go on Tour in Europe, again.

We’re All in This Together is Trout’s return to the music that I have been enjoying since around 2010 when he released Common Ground. I actually had heard Walter’s guitar previously, when I listened to the John Mayall’s album Chicago Line!

Walter performs together with a who’s who of blues on this album. Guests performers include: Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Sonny Landreth, Mike Zito, Robben Ford, Warren Hayes, Eric Gales, Edgar Winter, Joe Lewis Walker,John Nemeth, Randy Bachman, John Mayall, and Joe Bonamassa. Wow! Now you knw why this album is so great!! So Check it Out!!

Tracks Included in the Playlist: “Gonna Hurt Like Hell”(featuring Kenny Wayne Sheppard), Crash and Burn (featuring Joe Lewis Walker) and “Blues for Jimmy T. (featuring John Mayall)
