Cliff Walk - Bruce DeSilvaCliff Walk  (Mulligan #2) – Bruce DeSilva

The question of the day is: Have you ever bought a book based on the quote by an author on the cover of a book??

EK Discovers Bruce DeSilva’s Liam Mulligan

I did just that  earlier this year, after finding, The Dread Line by Bruce DeSilva at the Dollar Tree. I had never heard of Bruce DeSilva. However, Steve Hamilton is one of my favorite authors, and his quote about the book, convinced me it was worth taking a dollar chance on the book. Read More

A Strong Workout Plus the Altered Five Blues Band’s “Mint Condition”

So last week was nice. Morning temperatures were in the mid-60s and relative humidity was also fairly low. Yesterday and today overall temperatures were up. This morning it was 76 degrees at 8 o’clock with 95% relative humidity and the sun shining brightly! Not conditions that I like to run in! This  68 year-old body can take just so much! Read More

Several years ago while I was searching through the used CDs at The Princeton Record Exchange, I came across a CD by Jim Stubblefield. I had never heard of Jim.  But the album , which was titled Inspiracion had a picture of a guy playing a guitar. That was good enough for me to take a chance on the album. At $1.99 how could I go wrong? I didn’t the album was terrific and I became a fan! Read More

Encantado – Showcases Jim Stubblefield’s Guitar Wizardry!

So last week while I was reading Richard Laymon’s No Sanctuary I was also listening to Encantado  the latest album from flamenco guitarist Jim Stubblefield. I stumbled on Stubbefield’s music on a trip a few years ago to the Princeton Record Exchange. On that trip I bought his 2007 release Inspiracion and really liked it. The Run

Yesterday’s was one of those days that was about as close to perfect as you can get. First we were going to be babysitting our grandson Logan all day while his parents and older sister went to Six Flags. The good thing was we didn’t need to be there until 9:30. That meant that I could run around 8:00 and and be done and showered by 9:30. So I got up at 7:00 did some warm up exercising and was out the door by 8:00. Read More

A Beautiful Corpse – Christi Daugherty (Book #2 – Harper McClain)

A Beautiful Corpse is the second book in Christi Daugherty’s series featuring newspaper crime reporter Harper McClain. I read the first book in the series The Echo Killing earlier this year. Both were really, really good. In both books the murders that form the core of the book have a connection to Harper. In The Echo Killing the murder eerily resembles her mother’s unsolved murder. While in A Beautiful Corpse the victim Naomi Scott a law student tends bar in an establishment that Harper frequents and where her best friend works. Read More
