Reading Challenges Update – End of June, Start of July

Reading Challenges Update and Proposed July Reads

So I wrote the other day, that I am slightly behind the pace I need to maintain to reach my goal of reading 60 books in 2017. Right now I am at 29 books and I will need to read 6 books by the end of July to get back on pace. The following chart provide a tabulation of  where I am on my various reading challenges

Overall I doesn’t seem that I am doing to badly. It looks like I have to read a couple of books that are part of a series that I am behind on. And of course I need to read a classic or two  that I have never read! But we’ll worry about those books in the months ahead!

Now for the books I plan to read during the remaining days of July……

A Puzzle To Be Named Later – Parnell Hall

(Reading Challenge – A Series that I am behind on)

After the grizzly,  I am Death, I thought I needed a mystery that wasn’t so intense and the perfect one is a Parnel lHall Puzzle Lady mystery.Booklist says this about the Puzzle Lady…..

“If sweet-looking, gray-haired Miss Marple cursed, smoked, and carried a gun in her purse, she’d be a ringer for Cora Felton.”—

Parnell Hall has written 18  Puzzle Lady mysteries, I have 1, 4, 8, and 15 . A Puzzle to Be Named Later is number 18. So you can see that the books in this series can be read  out-of-order! Additionally, you can see that I have a lot of catching up to do!

Unlike Hall’s other series which features Private Investigator Stanley Hastings. That series stands at 20 books. And I have read all of them but # 17 Caper. Wait the last book I read was Safari, that is listed as book #19 and there is another book A Fool For a Client us #20. i have never seen that book. Well, we;ll correct that . I’m off to the library catalog. I’m back and sometime tomorrow A Fool for a Client should be making its way to my local branch of the library!! Damn do I put it on the list for this month or next???? See why I shouldn’t write  these posts….

The Telemere Effect – A Revolutionary Approach to Living Younger, Healthier , Longer – Elizabeth Blackburn, Ph.D

(Nonfiction)

I have had this checked out for a long time, no more renewals are left. It is now or never or at least until I can check it out again!

From Goodreads

Groundbreaking book by the Nobel Prize Winner who discovered telomeres, telomerase, and their role in the aging process, and the psychologist who researched specific lifestyle habits to protect them and slow down disease and lengthen life

Sounds like a great book for me!!

Ok those are two books that I am currently reading. I am going to stop for now and read them! I’ll write tomorrow about the other three books!!

Exit Strategy – Steve Hamilton

The Seventh Plague – James Rollins

Every Nigh I Dream of Hell – Malcolm Mackay
