Hey All! I will try to post later in the day the list of the 13 albums that I will be trying to listen to this week. I made the list from my Release Radar on Spotify. The list has a lot of new albums from musicians I like, so I can’t wait to listen to them.
First New Music from Douglas Blue Feather
This morning though I decided that the first album I was going to listen was going to be Santa Fe Trail. The latest release from Native American flute player Douglas Blue Feather and guitarist Danny Voris From Blue Feather’s website….
Douglas Blue Feather, Cherokee heritage & adopted Dakota (Zephier family Ihunktowan Band of the Yankton Sioux Nation of South Dakota), is an internationally known recording artist and performer of music featuring the Native American flute. Recognized as one of the most accomplished flutists of today, he has released 20 CDs ….
The highlights of Doug’s career include winning ten national music awards including four Indian Summer Music Awards in the categories of “Best Native American Flute” and “Best Contemporary Instrumental”, four Native American Music Awards in the categories of “Flutist of the Year” and “Best New Age”, the Global Music Awards, and the Visionary Music Awards. In total, Douglas has received over 50 various award nominations and has been a voting member of the Grammys in the Producer’s & Engineer’s Wing since 2007.
Through the years Native American flute has been one of my go to instruments for relaxation. However, I have typically listened to either R.Carlos Nakai or Robert Tree Cody with a few others thrown in. Now after listening to Santa Fe Trail, Douglas Blue Feather needs to be thrown into the mix! And his large back catalog gives me a lot of music to explore.
Then Came a Playlist with Other Native American Flute Players
I was listening to the album this morning, while I was doing some chores around the house. The chores lasted longer than the album so Spotify kept playing a mix of flute players. I was familiar with several of the artists, but there were a few newbies. I’ll need to check out those folks
