Steve Krase Band – Just Waitin’ – Gets A Body Moving!!

Just Waitin’ – Steve Krase Band

Over the last few years one of my favorite blues harmonica players has been Steve Krase. So the other day when I saw his latest release Just Waitin’  on Spotify I knew it would be going into my music rotation. The other morning I decided that it would be the soundtrack for my morning walk.

“Settin’ the Woods on Fire” opened the album and started my walk off on the right foot. The only problem was the song sounded a lot more rockabilly than bluesy! Not that it was a problem because Krase handled the song just fine!! And the rockin’ music got me started in a good mood! It set the tone for the songs that followed, note necessarily the blues but just flat-out good music.

In his review of Just Waitin’ Bill Wilson of “Reflections in Blue” writes…..

Just Waitin’ spends much time within the blues world, with songs from Howlin’ Wolf and Big Walter Price, among others; but also traverses beyond that into roots and Americana styles….

…..Just Waitin’ is a wild mix of classic blues, swing, obscure covers and some things you will just have to hear for yourself to believe. There is good reason why Steve Krase is considered one of the hottest harp players in the business, and this album is just the tip of the iceberg. If you are a fan of harmonica, Just Waitin’ is an album that belongs in your music library. Scheduled for a June 15 release, it is entertaining, educational and about as much fun as can be had…legally and alone. This one’s a keeper.

I totally agree!! Hearing the zydeco flavored version of “The Ballad of Jed Clampett” about halfway through the walk I was pleasantly surprise!  I The song was the theme song of the TV show “The Beverly Hillbillies” And with a smile on my face I was walking down the street singing along!

The Steve Krase Band

Rock Romano was the  producer on Just Waitin’. Romano also plays bass and provided backing vocals . In addition to Krase’s great harmonica and vocals the band features the following: David Carter (guitars and backing vocals); Tamara Williams (drums, percussion and backing vocals); James Gilmer (percussion); Brian Jack (accordion); Mike Vee (rubboard); and Kenan Ozdemir (lead guitar).

Bottom Line:

Just Waitin is a varied collection of blues and Americana and just plain fun music. So Check it Out!!
