Walter Trout – Ordinary Madness is Extra “Ordinary”

Ordinary Madness - Walter TroutSo according to my new blog schedule (we’ll see how long it lasts) on Monday I was to pick a blues album for the week. I would then theoretically listen to it for two days and write about it on Thursday. ( So now I’m already ab few days behind lol) The album I chose was Ordinary Madness the latest album from Blues guitarist Walter Trout. It has been the soundtrack for my last two runs. It is one of the reasons that both of those runs have been outstanding. The other reason is the weather, which actually have more to do with them being good runs, but not by much!

If you’re like me and like your blues with great blues guitar but you’re  or not listening to Walter Trout,  you’re  missing one of the best.

I even liked Walter Trout‘s guitar playing before I knew it was his playing. During the years from 1982 to 1996, which correspond with the early on childhood rearing years of my four children, I basically listened to kids music or music from my favorite musicians.

One of those musicians was John Mayall. Both Walter Trout and Coco Montoya, who have both become two of my favorites, both played on John‘s 1988 release Chicago Line.

About Ordinary Madness

Anyway,  let‘s get back to Ordinary Madness. I listened  to Ordinary Madness again this afternoon to try and pick which songs were my favorites. The result is can’t pick a favorite because there are just such a variety of well written songs yet with their own great guitar riffs.

If you don’t know Walter Trout, then you don’t know he was at death‘s door about five years ago. He was in dire need of a liver transplant, as a result of has Rock n roll drug and alcohol fueled lifestyle. He finally received the transplant and certainly seems to be now recover. It seems many of the songs often a glimpse into his self-reflection, which may be part of his pathway to recovery! Boy am I glad he is on that path!

So Check Out Ordinary Madness or any other of Walter‘s albums because they’re all terrific!!

Finally, if I had to pick my favorite track in the album it’s probably “All Out If Tears” so here’s its official lyric video!

P.S The other reason I like Walter Trout is that somewhere I believe we have a geneological connection. My great-grandmother’s maiden name was Trout and my Trout roots extend back into South Jersey where Walter born!
