Reading Challenge 2019 Motto
The EK’s Life Safari’s 2019 Reading Challenge

So since we are now into month two of 2019, I think it is time to final commit to my 2019 Reading Challenge. I have written earlier that my overall goal is to read 72 books in 2019. That’s seven books over my 2018 Challenge Goal. And  while I thought that goal of 65 books was unreachable I made it.So this ea I thought I’d  added some more! Read More

2018 BookTube-A-Thon Challenge Book Selections

So I’m a 66 year-old man and until yesterday I had never heard about the world of booktubers. The reason may be that the majority of them are young women to whom I could either be a father or grandfather. Anyway as I was exploring  I ended up finding Ariel  Bissett and her BookTube-a-Thon 2018. Read More

A New Challenge : The 14-Day Short Post Challenge

Short Post Challenge write posts using a 15 minute timer
Can the 14-Day Short Post Challenge Get Me Posting?
I am having a dreadful time trying to make myself sit down and write posts. Right now the way my life is going sitting down for an hour plus to write a post just ain’t happening. There are too many things that I want to do instead. So maybe I should quit blogging altogether. But blogging has helped create the life that I am leading now. As a result of blogging, I read more now then I have ever read in my life. I also listen to more music at least different genres. Blogging has also kept me running, doing yoga and trying to get younger. So with all those positives that have happened as a result of blogging, I don’t want to quit blogging. What I have decided to do instead is trying to write shorter posts. Over the last several months I have realized that I get through books a lot quicker and get other things done when I set a fifteen minute timer and read. Then after the fifteen minutes is up I go and do other things for a while. All this is leading up to my next challenge. It will be a 14-Day (because it is a test run) Short Post Writing Challenge. The main challenge is to write short 300-400 word posts in 15 minutes. Then come back and edit, spell check and add media and post it, also within a fifteen minute time period. If I am successful, maybe my posting can increase to two posts written and posted per  day, ha! Hmm, I’m close to wrapping up this post and I’m not at 300 words yet……
Recapping….
Rather than ending this blog I have decided to make my blog posts shorter. To aid in making this transition, I am going to try to limit the time I have to write a post to 15 minutes and  then 15 minutes to edit and finalize the post. Finally, I am creating a 14-day Short Post Challenge. to try to make this happen! Wish me luck!

Day 4 – New Music Challenge – Blues from Marcus Malone

Marcus Malone - Better Man

Better Man – Marcus Malone

Once again as I perused albums recommended by Spotify based upon artists I have listened to I came across blues artist Marcus Malone. And since I have never heard the music of Marcus he fit my New Music Challenge perfectly. A quick listen to the album convinced me that this guy is someone I should be listening to. Better Man, his 2017 release,  was the album that was recommended. I listened to the album yesterday and again today on the way to and from work at Target. And the more I listen to the album the more I like it. It really does have everything, some great vocals coupled with some fine instrumentals. I think this one is going to be in my music rotation for a while!!  In his  Get Ready To Rock Review Pete Feenstra writes the following about  Better Man Read More

Last night and this morning I spent so time reviewing both the Roots Music Roots charts and the Euro-Americana Chart. I was looking for some musicians that were new to me. I found several names that interested me. However, when I played a few minutes of their albums , only a couple of them really caught my fancy. This morning though one really stood out. The album was Harmony Sovereign by Michael Kelsh. Read More
