Reading Challenges Update End of August

Only Two Books Read in August, but Overall Reading Challenges are Being Met!!

So in the months this year that I read five to six books a month I had no problems in writing updates for my Reading Challenges! But August was a slow reading month to say the least. I only finished two books and  have yet to write reviews about either one.of them or a Reading Challenge update. The two books I read were Windigo Island by Wllliam Kent Krueger and Badlands from C.J. Box. Both of these two books were really really good!

Finishing those two books brought my book’s read total to 35 for 2015, one more than I read all of last year! The reason that my reading slacked off in August was that I spent more time researching my family lineage, getting back to running and babysitting than I did reading!! In addition two the two books read, I  have also read about 60% of Gretchen Rubin‘s Better than Before. and a little of Sarah Pinborough‘s book Mayhem. So here’s where I stand on my various reading challenges….

Reading Challenge From TBR Pile Buy/Library Total Goal %complete
2015 Nonfiction Reading Challenge 0 4 4 11 36%
2015 Cloak & Dagger Reading Challenge 6 15 21 23 91%
2015 Historical Fiction Reading Challenge 1 2 3 5 60%
2015 Science Fiction/Fantasy Challenge 2 4 6 12 50%
No Reading Challenge 0 1 1 0 100%
Totals 9 35 51 69%
2015 TBR Pile Reading Challenge 9 25 36%

So I still need to average four books a month over the next four months to reach my goal of 51 books! So what do I have lined up for September (aside from the start of the NFL season) I will continue to read, and hopefully finish Gretchen Rubin’s book.

Looking at what I need to meet my reading challenges, I see I need two more historical fiction reads so I guess I will try to finish Mayhem . I also need Non-fiction and Science Fiction books and a bunch of my reads need to be from my TBR pile! To that end, I have chosen both a nonfiction book and a science fiction book from my TBR pile! The non-fiction book is Lost Triumph“Lee’s Real Planat Gettysburg and Why It Failed by Tom Carhart and the science fiction book is The Last Colony from John Scalzi.

So right now my Reading Challenge books for September are as follows…..

Currently Reading Challenge From Page Total %complete
Better Than Before – Gretchen Rubin Nonfiction Ebook 186 299 62%
The Last Colony – John Scalzi Science Fiction TBR Pile 28 320 9%
Lost Triumph – Tom Carhart Nonfiction TBR Pile 0 269 0%
Mayhem – Sarah Pinborough Historical Fiction Library 58 305 19%

Additionally, I requested these three books from the library:  Life or Death by Michael Robotham, Alex Kava‘s Silent Creed and Broken Promise from Linwood Barclay. Of the three Life or Death should be here quickly. There are holds ahead of me for the other two books. I guess I better stop for now though and get back to reading! As always, wish me luck!!
