So In the past three weeks I’ve added a few women to my blues listening library, Joanne Shaw Taylor and Laurie Morvan in particular well after listening to her latest album over the past few weeks I’ ready to add another and possibly my favorite Shannon Curfman! Her latest album What You’re Getting Into is simply great!! Curfman a native of Fargo, North Dakota currently calls Minneapolis, Minnesota home. She recorded her first album Loud Guitars, Big Suspicions when she was fourteen! Here’s what some folks said about that album

After listening to Loud Guitars,Big Suspicions a couple of times I agree she could certainly play with the big boys then and now at 24 on her third album What You’re Getting Into” she is certainly hitting her stride. Special guests on the album include Joe Bonamassa, who you know is a favorite. Joe plays and sing a duet with Shannon of a classic Eric Clapton song. Stevie D from Buckcherry joins Curfman on a cover of a Queen song. The album features seven brand new, original songs that Curfman co-wrote with writers from a plethora of artists including: Aerosmith, Lenny Kravitz, Kid Rock, Ozzy Osbourne, Pink, Jonny Lang and Sheryl Crow. She does a great cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Oh Well” by Fleetwood Mac. About the same time I was first listening to this cover I was also listening to Todd Wolfe. Wolfe also does a cover of the song and while I like Wolfe’s cover. Shannon’s cover blows him away!! Which maybe be why Clive Davis said the following:

You know I listen to a lot of music and it’s gotten to the point that sounds really don’t stay in my head that long But Shannon’s song “What You’re Getting Into” is there a is floating pleasantly around along with several other of the tracks. So if you’ve never heard her scorching guitar and gritty vocals give her a spin and you’ll be amazed. As for me I have to downloads her second album Fast Lane Addiction and give it another listen!!
