so the during the rest of the day I listened to some early Greenwich Village scene music Fred Neil’s first solo album Bleecker and MacDougal and an earlier album Fred Neil released with Vince Martin entitled Tear Down the Walls. Now most of Fred’s music was released a little before I started listening to folk music in 1968-69 so while I knew of his music and especially loved “Dolphins”. I don’t have any of his albums. But I enjoyed both of these CDs and will probably listen to them both a few more times over the next few weeks. The one song on the album that has been covered several times by several folks including Jefferson Airplane was “The Other Side of this Life”. The other track that I remember when I heard it was “Little Bit of Rain”
The song that most people know that he wrote and was a hit for Harry Nillson’s was “Everybody’s Talkin'” . He released his last album in 1971 and gave his last performance in Tokyo in 1977. It was a benefit concert for The Dolphin Project which was a charity that rescued mistreared dolphins from circuses. On the bill of that concert was Jackson Browne, Richie Havens and others. So if you’ve never heard Fred Neil check him out!

Next I was doing some writing and had started listening to The Josh Abbott Band but Texas Country just didn’t work for writing so I listened to a Gary Burton 
album that I hadn’t heard before Virtuosi. I love Gary Burton’s music and listen to it alot when I am writing or just need to relax! The CD combines Gary Burton’s vibes and Makoto Ozone’s piano in ten classical duos with jazz improvisations and it is really good and was nominated for the 2003 Grammy Awards for Best Classical Crossover Album!
I did end the day with a little Texas Country music and the new Josh Abbott Band album She’s Like Texas. I had downloaded their
previous release which was an EP and enjoyed the band’s music. I will listen a few more times and then write more!
and suddenly it’s the end of the day and I need to shut it down but it was another good day in music!
